Get Involved

Give your time, skills & voice

Behind every home visit, support group, and community event is a network of passionate Kiwis giving their time, skills, and voice.

MDANZ was founded by families for families. Whether you have two hours a month to host a local coffee catch-up, want to take on a fundraising challenge, or can lend professional skills, your involvement strengthens our community across Aotearoa.

  • Local Community Impact: Support families directly in your region (Northern, Central, or South Island).

  • Flexible Commitments: One-off event volunteering, regular roles, or personal fundraising challenges.

  • Full Support Provided: Induction, training, and ongoing support from your Regional Branch team.

Volunteer opportunities

Volunteering with MDANZ connects you directly with your local community. We offer flexible options tailored to your availability, interests, and location:

What you can expect as an MDANZ Volunteer

Fundraise your way

You don’t need to be an elite athlete to host a successful fundraiser. From backyard BBQs and school mufti days to marathon runs, every dollar raised helps keep regional Fieldworkers on the road.

How to Get Started:

Need ideas?

Raise awareness & share your voice

Raising public and clinical awareness about rare neuromuscular conditions is vital to driving earlier diagnosis, better hospital care, and funding access.

  • Share Your Lived Experience Story: We are always looking for members and whānau willing to share their journey for our newsletter, social media campaigns, or parliamentary submissions.

  • Support National Awareness Campaigns: Participate in annual awareness weeks by sharing graphics, posters, and educational resources in your local school, clinic, or workplace.

  • Join Local Barrier Discussions: Help identify inaccessible public infrastructure, transport issues, or hospital care gaps in your district so our advocacy team can address them.
