Thank you for helping to make the 2018 Freedom campaign our best yet!

Each year, we kick off on 7th September for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) awareness day, and conclude on 30th September which is the global awareness day for Limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD). September is also CMT Awareness Month!

A range of events and street collections were held throughout the country with the dedicated support of regional branch committee members, volunteers and members. Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped to raise awareness and funds for our services.

Any contribution big or small is greatly appreciated. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Host a morning tea for MD

Get a group together for morning tea and fundraise for MDA at the same time.  Take a look at our tips for hosting a morning tea for MD in September.

Volunteer as a collector

We need volunteers in all regions to collect during our street appeals.
You must be reliable, have transport and be willing to take responsibility for your health and safety, as well as take responsibility for securing and banking money while collecting.
Contact your local branch or email us [email protected] if you wish to volunteer for a collection.

Take a donation box

We have small items in display boxes, that customers can exchange for a $2 donation.
See if your workplace or local cafe would be happy to have a box on their reception desk or counter.   Download an order form here or contact [email protected] to have a box sent to you.

Hold a school mufti day

Your child's school might like to hold a mufti day, wheels day or have a coin trail. Freedom is a universal word that everyone can relate to and we want our young people to have fun with our logo and concept, while increasing their understanding and empathy for others. To connect with us and find out about how we can support your school activity, download a form by clicking here or email [email protected]

Tell us what Freedom means to you

Using our poster, write, sketch or draw what freedom means to you, take a photo of yourself holding this up and either upload it to our Instagram account or send it to us. To download the poster, click here.

Participate in an event

During September we hold a variety of events nationwide.  You can help by attending an event, donating time or an auction item or spreading the word. Refer to the Freedom Diary Dates listed at the top of the page.
Thank you for your support!
